Basic information

Titanium diboride has a hexagonal crystal structure with ultra-high hardness. It oxidizes up to 1000°C, stable in HCl/HF. Density 4.52 g/cm³, thermal expansion 8.1×10⁻⁶ m/m·K, thermal conductivity 25 J/m·s·K, resistivity 14.4 μΩ·cm. Used in ceramic composites, molten metal crucibles and electrolytic cell electrodes.
