Cuprous oxide is red-colored powder which specific weight is 6.00. The melting point of it is 1235℃ and boiling point is 1800℃. It dissolves in hydrochloric acid, ammonium chloride and ammonia solution while insoluble in water and alcohol. It is slowly oxidized in humid air into cupric oxide but relatively stable in dry air. Meanwhile, cuprous oxide is a toxic compound.
