Sodium borohydride can be used as a reducing agent for aldehydes, ketones and acyl chlorides, an intermediate for the production of potassium borohydride, a raw material for the manufacture of diborane and other high-energy fuels, a foaming agent in the plastic industry, a treatment agent for mercury-containing wastewater in the paper industry, a papermaking bleaching agent, and a hydrogenation agent for the production of dihydrostreptomycin in the pharmaceutical industry.

Application
1. Water-soluble reducing agents are often used in pharmaceuticals, pulp bleaching, the recovery of precious metals, and the prevention of heavy metal pollution, etc.
2. It can be used as a reducing agent for carbonyl compounds (aldehydes, ketones, acids, acid amides, acid anhydrides, acid halides, esters, enol esters, imides, lactones).
