Germanium Dioxide for Optical Applications

Germanium dioxide (GeO₂) is chemically stable and insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid, but soluble in alkaline solutions to form germanate salts. It can react with strong alkalis or strong acids at high temperatures, such as melting with NaOH to form sodium germanate.
