Our good quality Ferro Silicon Manganese Mn65Si17 is an iron alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron and a small amount of carbon, etc., is produced in an electric furnace. Its main raw materials are manganese ore, silica, coke, and it is supplemented with fluxes such as lime. This alloy is a commonly used composite deoxidizer in steelmaking and also serves as a reducing agent for the production of low-carbon ferromanganese and metallic manganese. During the steelmaking process, manganese can promote the floating of deoxidation products and enhance the deoxidation effect of silicon and aluminum, while silicon can increase the strength of steel and promote the graphitization of cast iron.

Basic information

Ferro Silicon Manganese is also called Silicon-manganese alloy. It is produced by simultaneously reducing manganese oxide and silicon dioxide in manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag) and silica in an electric arc furnace with carbon. The production of manganese-silicon alloy is carried out in an electric furnace, using carbonaceous reducing agent, manganese ore, manganese-rich slag, sintered manganese ore, calcined manganese ore and silica as raw materials, and lime, dolomite, fluorite and other fluxes for continuous production in an electric furnace

Application

1. Deoxidation and Desulfurization in Steelmaking

Composite Deoxidation: Silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn) have a strong affinity for oxygen, effectively removing dissolved oxygen from molten steel, reducing iron oxide inclusions, and improving steel purity.

Desulfurization: Manganese combines with sulfur to form MnS, reducing FeS (which can cause hot brittleness in steel) and improving the hot workability of steel.

2. Alloying Function

Composition Adjustment: As an alloy additive, it allows precise control of silicon and manganese content in steel, improving mechanical properties (such as strength, hardness, toughness).

Microstructure Improvement: Manganese expands the austenite phase region, stabilizing the austenite structure; silicon strengthens ferrite, enhancing the strength and elastic limit of steel.

3. Production of Special Steel Grades

Silicon-Manganese Steel: Used in producing silicon-manganese series alloy steels (e.g., spring steel, wear-resistant steel, structural steel), whose comprehensive performance is superior to steels with only silicon or manganese added.

Stainless and Heat-Resistant Steels: Silicon and manganese can improve oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance.

4. Casting Industry

Cast Iron Modification: Adding ferrosilicon manganese alloy during casting improves the fluidity of cast iron, refines the graphite structure, and enhances the strength and toughness of castings.

5. Welding Materials

Welding Electrodes and Wires: As an alloy component in welding materials, it enhances the strength, toughness, and crack resistance of weld metal.

6. Other Metallurgical Applications

Magnesium Metal Smelting: Used as a reducing agent or additive in the production of certain metals via the Pidgeon process (magnesiothermic reduction).

Submerged Arc Furnace Charge: Serves as an intermediate alloy in ferroalloy production.
