Application

1. It is used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steelmaking industry.

In order to obtain steel with qualified chemical composition and ensure its quality, deoxidation must be carried out in the final stage of steelmaking. Silicon and oxygen have a strong chemical affinity, so ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer for steelmaking, used for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation.

2. It is used as an inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry.

Cast iron is an important metallic material in modern industry. It is cheaper than steel, easier to melt and smelt, and has excellent casting properties and much better seismic resistance than steel.

3. It is used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys.

Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen very strong, but also the carbon content of high-silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloys) is a commonly used reducing agent in the ferroalloy industry when producing low-carbon ferroalloys.

4. Its uses in other aspects.

Ground or atomized ferrosilicon powder can be used as a suspension phase in the mineral processing industry. It can be used as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry. High-silicon ferrosilicon can be used in the chemical industry to manufacture products such as silicone.
