Application:

1. Fire retardant. The main use of antimony is its oxide antimony trioxide in the manufacture of refractory materials. 2. Alloy. Antimony can be combined with lead to form versatile alloys whose hardness and mechanical strength are improved. In most applications where lead is used, antimony is added in varying quantities to make the alloy. In lead-acid batteries, the additive changes electrode properties and reduces the formation of hydrogen as a by-product during discharge.

3. Other Applications.
