Basic information:

A binary alloy consisting of silicon and calcium, belonging to the category of ferroalloy. Its main components are silicon and calcium, and it also contains impurities such as iron, aluminum, carbon, sulfur and phosphorus in varying amounts. Used in iron and steel industry as calcium additive, deoxidizer, desulfurizer and denaturant of non-metallic inclusions. The cast iron industry uses as inoculant and denaturant.

Application:

Because calcium and liquid steel in the oxygen, sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon have a strong affinity, so silicon calcium alloy is mainly used for liquid steel deoxidation, degassing and fixed sulfur. The exothermic effect of si - ca addition to molten steel is strong. Calcium turns into calcium vapor in liquid steel, which has stirring effect on liquid steel and is beneficial to the floating of nonmetallic inclusions. After deoxidation, non-metallic inclusions with larger particles and easy to float will be produced, and the shape and properties of non-metallic inclusions will also be changed. Therefore, si-Ca alloy is used to produce clean steel, high quality steel with low oxygen and sulfur content, and special steel with extremely low oxygen and sulfur content. Add the calcium silicon alloy can eliminate as final deoxidizer in aluminum steel in the ladle nozzle nodules, and continuous cast steel | ironmaking of tundish nozzle clogging and so on. In the process of out of furnace refining of steel, the content of oxygen and sulfur in steel is reduced to a very low level by deoxidizing and desulphurizing with calcium silicate powder or core wire. It can also control the form of sulfide in steel and improve the utilization rate of calcium. In the production of cast iron, si-Ca alloy not only plays a role of deoxidation and purification, but also plays a role of inoculation, which contributes to the formation of fine or spherical graphite. The graphite distribution in grey cast iron is uniform and the tendency of whiteness is reduced. And can increase silicon, desulfurization, improve the quality of cast iron.
